ON CALL ADVOCATE GENERAL SUMMARY

Responsible for daily operations of shelter and support for the statewide Victims of Crime Helpline.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provide coverage for shelter and the Victims of Crime Helpline during weekend, overnight and/or holiday shifts. 2. Supports residents and functions of shelter on site. Receives and responds to all calls to the Victims of Crime Helpline from victims in crisis, police and medical personnel, and others. Gives information on services provided, determines appropriateness for shelter residency, completes intakes and makes referrals as necessary. 3. Maintain daily log of resident activities, changes and needs. Maintains records for all calls taken on the Victims of Crime Helpline

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

1. The ability to work independently and without close supervision. 2. Verbal communication skills to give information to callers. 3. The ability to appropriately, effectively and calmly deal with stressful or emergency situations.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

A combination of education and experience demonstrating acquisition of the
