19 per hour (12-step salary schedule) Initial placement on the salary schedule is based on experience. Prior years of service credit can place a new employee no higher than Step 5. Length of Work Year 10 months Employment Type Part Time Job Summary Job Summary A Behavior Technician supports the College Elementary School Districts students by reinforcing instruction and behavior support to individuals or small groups of students, assist in preparing instructional materials, implementing provisions within Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and provide routine clerical support.   • This position includes all legally mandated benefits applicable to part-time employees, including the accrual of up to 10 sick leave and 10 vacation days per year. Health and welfare benefits are included at a prorated portion. Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Understanding of the role of a Behavior Technician. Ability to organize and plan effectively.
  • Participate in: Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and SELPA Behavior Aide training.
  • Possess knowledge and/or willingness to be trained in specialized health and safety care procedures and equipment; will be required, as the needs of students dictate, to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, first aid, physical restraint and specialized physical health care procedures.   • Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations.
  • Ability to stand and circulate for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to see for purposes of reading law and codes, rules and policies and other printed matter and observing students.
  • Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
  • Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversation.
  • Ability to bend and twist, kneel and stoop, run and crawl.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to carry 50 pounds.
  • Ability to reach in all directions.
