Job Description
General Statement of Duties Oversees the client utilization of facilities at the Havelock Tourist & Event Center. Opens and operates the Visitor Center on Saturday. Duties and Responsibilities Opens and secures facilities before and after events. Greets guests/visitors Assists in the preparation of facilities for events and after events removing event items from facility rooms and keeping area clean Resolves problems or complaints from lessee or the public in accordance with established policies and procedures Oversees the client utilization of the facility; makes or arranges for last-minute adjustments in room or equipment set-up at the request of the lessee Complies with all safety and food service laws and regulations Facilitates operations and responds to emergencies or problems, ensuring all events are implemented and controlled according to plan Cleans windows and glass doors; vacuums carpets; maintains restroom facilities; removes trash from building Maintains communication with approved caterer during event and inspects kitchen and other areas during caterer checkout process Set-up and operation of audio and visual equipment Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of operation of Tourist & Event Center as a venue and Visitor Center Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to enforce safety rules and regulations and other rules regarding facility use. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written format. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, visitors, and clients. Utilizes general knowledge of building cleaning practices. Ability to deal effectively with the public in a tactful and effective manner while providing excellent customer service. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating initiative and staying actively engaged Must be able to work days or nights, weekends, and holidays. Education and Experience Graduation from high school or high school equivalency diploma. Experience in working with the public. Experience in food handling safety. Special Requirement Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check Ability to take and pass CPR/First Aid Training Physical Requirements This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work can require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, peripheral vision, preparing and analyzing written information, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, operation of (kitchen) machines, operation of various types of equipment, and observing general surroundings and activities.
