Bayberry Garden Job Description:
Pastry Cook The Pastry Cook at Bayberry Garden will work under the guidance of the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs to execute the restaurant's pastry and dessert program with excellence and consistency. This role supports the creation and execution of plated desserts, ice creams, breads, and seasonal pastries that align with the overall culinary vision of Bayberry Garden. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, curiosity, consistency, and a desire to learn and grow within a team-driven, ambitious kitchen environment. Key Responsibilities Production & Execution Execute recipes and prep tasks as directed by the Chef and Sous Chefs, and additional pastry team members Uphold quality standards across all dessert, bread, and pastry items. Prepare mise en place for plated desserts and bread service. Assist in daily service prep, plating, and maintaining consistency during service. Properly handle and store ingredients, components, and finished products. Support brunch, lunch, dinner, and special events with well-prepared pastry items. Participate in ongoing prep tasks including churning, baking, shaping, proofing, and finishing. Cleanliness & Organization Maintain a clean and organized pastry station at all times. Assist in dishwashing and general cleaning tasks when necessary. Follow all Food Safety and RIDOH protocols with precision. Label, date, and rotate ingredients in accordance with DOH standards. Participate in opening and closing kitchen responsibilities. Collaboration & Communication Communicate any shortages, prep needs, or service issues with Exec Chef and Sous Chefs. Actively engage in daily line-up meetings and team check-ins. Support an inclusive, respectful, and professional kitchen environment. Foster a culture of curiosity, kindness, and collaboration. Learning & Development Take part in regular team trainings and tastings. Be open to feedback and seek out opportunities to improve craft and consistency. Participate in the ongoing refinement of systems and recipes with the culinary leadership team. Exhibit professionalism, composure, and a strong sense of hospitality in the kitchen. Qualifications 1+ year professional pastry or baking experience required. A genuine interest in learning about seasonal ingredients, fermentation, plated desserts, and bread. Ability to follow precise recipes and plating guides. Strong sense of accountability, attention to detail, and pride in one's station. Comfortable with fast-paced, detail-oriented environments.
