Job Summary:
Under general supervision, and according to well-defined policies and procedures, interviews patients and/or patients' representatives to obtain necessary personal, demographic and financial information and identification. Performs computer data entry and other record-keeping tasks related to the patients' registration within the registration areas. Exhibits Service Excellence Standards at all times, and incorporates into all interactions.

Job Essentials:
Registers all patients on computer system. Includes retrieval of all demographic, financial and insurance information from patients. Secures all necessary signatures on required forms. Obtains copies of patient identification and insurance identification and scans into Document Imaging system. Also, scans all signed forms into Document Imaging system. Demonstrates effective communication skills with patients, visitors, co-workers, physicians and ancillary departments. Ensures all recorded information is complete and accurate. Makes revisions as needed. Maintains an orderly patient care unit/work are to include Registration Area and Waiting Room. Respects the privacy and confidentiality of each patient record. Ask for deposits/payments as required and makes proper patient referral to Credit Representative and/or Cashier's office. Treats all individuals with respect including but not limited to patients, visitors, co-workers, physicians and Medical Center Staff. Obtains pre-certification for authorized treatment from managed care insurance companies when applicable. Carry through EMTALA regulations. Offers assistance in directing patients, visitors, and associated medical staff. Demonstrates appropriate and courteous telephone etiquette during telephone exchanges. Relays essential phone messages. Contacts patient care areas, physicians and associated health care professionals to exchange and gather information regarding patients. Participates in departmental quality assurance endeavors and in his/her own performance evaluation process. Assists and performs other related duties as necessary to ensure quality patient care.
Qualifications/Requirements:
HS Diploma or equivalent preferred. In the absence of such, a minimum of 5 years related experience required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with professional appearance. Ability to function independently. Clerical, data entry and typing skills including filing and record keeping. One or more years of registration or related clerical/health care experience is preferred when accompanied with HS Diploma or equivalent. Some knowledge of computer systems. Ability to work in a fast paced environment that has frequent changes in priorities. Flexibility and ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. Ability to complete needed tasks with speed and accuracy. Englewood Health job postings provide a minimum rate to comply with New Jersey Law. The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc. The minimum rate does not include bonuses/incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation. In addition to the minimum rate, eligible employees may receive comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and other wellness resources.
Minimum rate:
$16.00 per hour
