The Medical Assistant (MA)
  • OfficeAuthorizations supports both clinical and administrative operations by coordinating patient services, managing insurance authorizations, and assisting healthcare providers in delivering high-quality outreach care while supporting and complementing the Home Health Care initiatives.
This role includes direct patient care support such as assisting with admissions, treatments, and remote patient monitoring (RPM), while ensuring timely processing of referrals and accurate documentation.
DutiesResponsibilities:
Patient CoordinationOffice Support Answer phones, schedule patient visits, and coordinate wound care/lymphedema, Chronic Care, Transitional Care and RPM services Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, and external agencies Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system Assist with intake, referrals, and follow-up communication Insurance Authorizations Obtain and track prior authorizations for home health services, therapies, and medical equipment Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits Communicate with insurance companies to ensure timely approvals Follow up on pending or denied authorizations and resolve issues Clinical SupportPatient Care Assist with patient admissions, including collecting and documenting vital signs Support clinicians with patient assessments and care coordination Assist with wound care treatments under the direction of licensed nursing staff Prepare and maintain clinical supplies and treatment areas Assist with Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) setup, patient education, and ongoing support Monitor and report patient data from RPM systems to clinical staff as directed Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation Administrative Duties Maintain organized files and documentation Ensure confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines Assist with reporting, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
QualificationsSkills:
Required:
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program Current MA certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) 1+ year of healthcare or medical office experience Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes
Preferred:
Experience in clinic, home health, public health, or community outreach settings Experience assisting with wound care and basic clinical procedures Familiarity with Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) systems Experience with prior authorization processes and EHR systems
SkillsCompetencies:
Strong organizational and multitasking skills Excellent communication and customer service abilities Attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work independently and as part of a team Problem-solving and follow-through Comfort working in both administrative and patient care environments
Work Environment:
Combination of office-based work and direct patient care support in home health settings Frequent interaction with patients, providers, and insurance representatives Standard weekday hours with occasional flexibility based on service needs
