Patient Care Technician, Emergency Medicine- 50%-100% (University Campus) 🔍 Iowa City, Iowa, United States New 📁 Nursing 📅 8 hours ago Post Date 📅 26003272 Requisition # Apply for Job Share this Job Sign Up for Job Alerts The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking to hire 50-100% Patient Care Technicians in the Emergency Department (ED). Under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses, the ED Patient Care Technician will perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care. The Emergency Department (ED) at the University Campus (located at 200 Hawkins Dr.) is a 57-bed department. Pediatric ED space with 13 rooms, which includes 2 dedicated trauma/resuscitation rooms and a procedural room. Main ED space includes 3 trauma/resuscitation rooms, an expanded Team Triage space, and 6 results waiting chairs. South Expansion space includes 12 enhanced multipurpose rooms and a calming room. Our ED is staffed by a multidisciplinary team which includes Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, Paramedics, Unit Assistants, Social Work, Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine providers, Pharmacy, and our research team. The University Campus ED was the recipient of an Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) Lantern Award in 2025 for their collaboration and teamwork that makes a difference in the lives of patients, families, employees, and our community. Duties include (but not limited to): Perform EKGs throughout the Emergency Department as well as throughout the entire hospital. Set up rooms for patient admission. Clean equipment, patient bedside area and nursing unit. Transport patients by bed, cart or wheelchair. Stock and supply patient rooms and Nursing unit. Perform basic CPR as required. Maintain patient confidentiality. Assist patients with bedpans, urinals and perineal cleansing. Perform patient personal hygiene such as bathing, toileting, feeding, dressing, grooming and oral care for patients. Turn, position, and ambulate patients. Take temperature, pulse and blood pressure. Enter daily patient record charting in computer. Transport equipment, specimens and supplies.

20-40 hours a week dependent on percentage of position: Rotating day/evening/night shifts Combination of 8 & 12-hour shifts, dependent on unit needs Weekend and holiday rotating assignments required Orientation duration may varyStaff Type :
