Job Description

We are currently seeking a compassionate, organized, and customer-focused Patient Service Specialist (PSS) to join our outpatient clinical team. Job Summary The Patient Service Specialist ("PSS") is responsible for supporting the daily administrative and clerical operations of an outpatient clinical setting. This role coordinates appointments, manages patient registration and documentation, maintains patient records, and serves as a key point of contact for patients, visitors, providers, and staff. The PSS helps create a welcoming and efficient healthcare experience while supporting the delivery of quality patient care. Essential Functions Greet and assist patients, visitors, and staff professionally and courteously Register patients and verify accurate demographic and insurance information Schedule appointments and maintain efficient provider schedules Answer incoming calls and direct calls appropriately Assist patients with required forms, paperwork, and documentation Maintain and manage confidential patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations Collect co-pays and process patient payments Coordinate patient flow to ensure timely appointments and quality service Obtain medical records and external reports as requested by providers Maintain office supplies, scheduling equipment, and general front office organization Ensure reception areas remain neat, welcoming, and professional Perform additional clerical and administrative duties as assigned Qualifications Education & Experience High School Diploma or equivalent required One (1) or more years of customer service or healthcare registration experience preferred Skills & Competencies Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong customer service and interpersonal abilities Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities effectively Strong problem-solving and time management skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer systems Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times Physical Requirements This position requires prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Work Environment Work is performed in a fast-paced outpatient healthcare setting with frequent patient interaction and administrative responsibilities.
