Payment Banking Administrator

As a community bank, First Bank of Berne believes in the value of people and the importance of building relationships. We are currently seeking a Payment Banking Administrator who will be responsible for ACH and check processing, wire transfers, debit card processing, branch transaction processing, and exception items. This role is hands-on and critical to maintaining strong controls and fraud awareness across all payment banking activities.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage daily workflows, training, and performance.
• Oversee day-to-day processing of: ACH (including returns, exceptions, and settlements) Wire transfers (with strong controls and fraud awareness) Debit card operations (exceptions, disputes, chargebacks, settlement, vendor coordination) Branch electronic transactions (including source capture and image processing) Exception items (incoming/outgoing returns and adjustments)
• Maintain a working knowledge of payment rules and infrastructure (ACH, checks, wires, debit cards).
• Emphasize fraud detection, escalation, and risk mitigation across all payment channels.
• Partner with fraud, compliance, and vendors to resolve issues and improve processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and use of technology.

ROLE QUALIFICATIONS

High school graduation is required, and 1 to 3 years of bank payment operations experience is preferred. To successfully perform this job, the individual must have working knowledge of ACH, wire transfers, debit card processing, and exception items, have a strong attention to detail, and have excellent communication and organizational skills.
