SUMMARY:
Processes and maintains data involved with the generation of various payrolls for the Fayette County School District; reviews, calculates and reconciles payroll reports and related matters; and conducts research to resolve concerns pertaining to employee pay
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance 2. Assist the payroll officer in preparation of the payroll and the year-end processes 3. Calculate overtime pay for employees based on documentation submitted by schools/departments 4. Establish direct deposit records for employees, create pre-notification file and make timely changes as appropriate 5. Adjust substitute payroll to reconcile information entered by schools and departments and make account distribution adjustments 6. Maintain employee payroll files 7. Assist with monthly payroll by approving and posting personnel actions 8. Assist employees with payroll concerns and EA issues 9. Maintain and process monthly spreadsheets for school funded learning center workers, etc. 10. Maintain spreadsheets on outside events. Track payments for personnel and contracted services 11. Prepare and process voids and exception payrolls as needed 12. Monitor and provide support for the time entry/batch entry process 13. Provide accounting support to the accounting supervisor as needed 14. Serve as backup to payroll officer 15. Perform other assigned duties as assigned and allowable by intended program
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED equivalent Experience in bookkeeping or related duties Proficient in Microsoft Excel with extensive knowledge of spreadsheets Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills Ability to handle and complete multiple tasks simultaneously
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Routine physical activities associated with typical office setting. Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling and repetitive fine motor activities. Vision, hearing and verbal communications are essential functions of this position. 2026 PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS
Payroll experience preferably in a school setting General knowledge of Fair Labor Standards Act rules and regulations General knowledge of employee benefits Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets Knowledge of Tyler Munis software
