Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Payroll Supervisor/Manager to support a hospitality organization in Brooklyn, New York. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can oversee high-volume payroll operations with accuracy, consistency, and strong attention to compliance. The role will focus on managing end-to-end payroll activities across multiple states while partnering with internal stakeholders to resolve payroll issues and improve processing efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Direct complete payroll processing for a large employee population, ensuring wages, deductions, taxes, and adjustments are calculated accurately and delivered on schedule.
- Oversee multi-state payroll activities and maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Review payroll records for accuracy, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues related to timekeeping, earnings, benefits, and tax withholdings.
- Coordinate with HR, finance, and operations teams to gather payroll data, validate changes, and support smooth payroll cycles.
- Prepare and analyze payroll reports, reconciliations, and audit documentation to support internal controls and leadership reporting.
- Monitor payroll deadlines and help streamline procedures to strengthen efficiency and reduce processing errors.
- Support payroll system usage and contribute to process updates, including work related to Paycom when applicable.
- Guide day-to-day payroll operations and serve as a resource for escalated employee and management questions regarding payroll matters. Requirements
- Proven experience managing full-cycle payroll from data review through final processing and post-payroll reconciliation.
- Background handling payroll for more than 500 employees in a high-volume environment.
- Hands-on knowledge of multi-state payroll practices and payroll tax compliance requirements.
- Ability to identify discrepancies quickly and apply strong problem-solving skills to resolve payroll issues accurately.
- Experience working with payroll platforms; familiarity with Paycom is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across HR, finance, and operational teams.
