Other duties may be assigned) Apply person-centered principles & intentional sharing of lived experience to build supportive relationships with clients. Provide supportive contacts with clients with developmental disabilities, severe and persistent mental illness, and chemical dependency. Carry out portions of client treatment or training plans including skills training activities. Ability to respond appropriately to and deescalate a crisis Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team in accordance with each client's individualized treatment plan, needs, and concerns. Document client progress per department policies and procedures. Assist with obtaining eligibility documentation, providing client activities, and meeting individually with clients in the community. Ability to write short correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and remain calm and professional under pressure. Maintain standards of confidentiality of Lifeways' clients and records. Perform all work duties and activities in compliance with Lifeway's policies/procedures, Oregon Administrative Rules, OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications Required:
High School Diploma/GED Two years of experience with individuals with severe or persistent chemical dependency, developmental disabilities, mental illness Or combination of education, work experience, and training Must be able to obtain a certification as a Certified Peer Support Specialist
  • from a state-approved training within 6 months of hire.

State of Oregon Administrative Rule:
Self-identified person currently or formerly receiving mental health services. Or A self-identified person in recovery from a substance abuse disorder, who meet the abstinence requirements for recovering staff in alcohol and other drug treatment programs. Or A family member of an individual who is a current or former recipient of addictions or mental health services. Successful completion of background check Valid driver's license Ability to travel to other locations as necessary to complete essential job functions. Must pass a Law Enforcement Data System (LEDS) Criminal Background Check (to enter correctional setting)
