EISS PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST
About the Company Healthcare Commons, Inc. is a not-for-profit, licensed community mental health agency that has served Salem County for more than 70 years, as well as parts of Cumberland and Gloucester counties. Across multiple locations, we provide a full range of behavioral health and support services for children, adolescents, and adults, including outpatient counseling, partial care, crisis intervention, residential services, case management, and family support programs. Conveniently located near Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Southern New Jersey, we are proud to be a trusted resource for individuals and families across the region. About the Role We are seeking a compassionate and recovery-focused EISS Peer Support Specialist to support individuals participating in the Early Intervention Support Services (EISS) program. This role provides peer-based support, advocacy, and engagement to individuals experiencing mental health or substance use challenges. The ideal candidate will use lived experience to help support recovery, connect individuals with community resources, and assist the clinical team in delivering high-quality behavioral health services. Key Responsibilities Provide education and support to family members and support persons Advocate for individuals receiving services through the Early Intervention Support Services program Assist therapists and case managers with client support needs Gather and assist with collateral information as needed Follow up with individuals receiving EISS services Assist with linkage and referrals to community-based services Greet service recipients entering the Urgent Care program Review intake paperwork and collect referral information Participate in team meetings and interdisciplinary collaboration Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and accurate documentation Perform all other duties as assigned Qualifications High School Diploma required Associate's degree in a mental health-related field preferred Current or past consumer of mental health services required Life experience with mental health or substance abuse recovery required Minimum of 1 year in recovery required Willingness to obtain Peer Support Specialist certification within the first year of employment required Valid driver's license in good standing required Clear background check required Strong interpersonal, communication, and advocacy skills Ability to work collaboratively within a team-based behavioral health environment
Compensation & Schedule Base Rate:
$17.31 hr.
