Performing Arts & Drama Department Head - Overnight Camp Community Camp Tevya, located in Brookline, NH; one hour from
Boston Contract Dates :
June 15, 2026 - August 13, 2026
Compensation :
$5,000 commensurate with experience Camp Tevya, a spirited residential camp with over 80 years of tradition, is seeking an energetic and creative Department Head of Performing Arts & Drama to bring the stage to life this summer! In this role, you'll lead improv games, guide campers through auditions and rehearsals, and help produce exciting performances that build confidence and creativity. You'll also oversee elements like set design, costumes, and production details to ensure each camper shines. If you love theater, enjoy working with kids, and thrive in a fun, collaborative camp environment, this is your chance to make some stage magic!
Qualifications:
1-3 years of experience coordinating, directing, and organizing a drama program, preferably at a residential camp. Proven acting and directing skills. A degree in education or theater education is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate a team of 3-5 drama staff to create an exciting and successful performing arts program, including daily drama lessons for campers 2-6 grade and specialized electives for campers 2-10 grade. Direct unit plays, including auditions, rehearsals, and performances for typically about 30 campers in grades 2-8. Manage all aspects of the drama department, including stage set construction, lighting, costuming, and makeup. Oversee inventory reports, purchase requests, and repair logs. Handle some pre-camp planning to ensure the program is set for success. Support arrangement song and dance numbers for the annual "Arts Fest." Oversee dance department of 4-5 counselors who run pre-choreographed songs and hip-hop/cheerleading electives. As a member of the Leadership Team, you will have responsibilities for supervising, facilitating and participating in other areas of camp beyond your department.
