Job Description

The Wilmington Blue Rocks are looking for energetic and outgoing individuals to be a part of our mascot team! Our mascot performers work directly with our Promotions team as a key part of the game day and community experience. Responsibilities would include but are not limited to: Always Represent the Wilmington Blue Rocks in a professional and energetic manner An outgoing individual who can easily connect with fans of all ages and abilities Willingness to perform on field and in the community at external events (public or private) Ensure mascot suits, props and other supplies, as well as the mascot room itself, are kept well organized and clean If not scheduled as the primary performer, the willingness to accompany the performer for on and off-site events as a handler, if available Preserve the identity and of the mascot and follow an established character ruleset. This includes, but is not limited to, team representation, body language & mannerisms, fan interaction, signatures, etc. Previous mascot experience is preferred Physical Requirements Ability to safely perform in a mascot costume for extended periods Ability to walk, climb stairs, dance, and perform moderate physical activity while wearing the costume Ability to lift and transport costume components as needed Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions including extreme heat, cold and rain Ability to read social cues to understand each fan's interaction preferences Ability to maintain awareness and mobility with limited visibility and ventilation Due to the dimensions and safety limitations of the existing costume, applicants should be able to safely and comfortably fit the costume designed for individuals approximately 5'10"-6'3" in height Preferred Qualifications Performance, theater, dance, cheer, mascot, or entertainment experience preferred Strong nonverbal communication and crowd engagement skills Weekend and evening availability preferred This is a part-time position, based on need and availability.
