Job Description

ActUp Theater is hiring Choreographers for our upcoming Fall 2026 production, FROZEN. This role will play a central role in management and supporting the work of ActUp Theater. The choreography team will be responsible for choreographing and teaching a dynamic routines, ensuring challenging choreography for select dance performances from the Frozen soundtrack, and teaching creative age-appropriate movement, dance skills, student self-directed improvisation and composition and interdisciplinary inquiry projects.
Report To:
This position reports to the Lead Dance Choreographer Responsibilities Choreograph and teach a dynamic routines Coordinate and work well with small team of choreographers Successfully teach group of youth and/or adults in disenfranchised communities (Ages 8+) Ability to choreograph unique and engaging dances to songs within the Frozen soundtrack Teach participants to be versatile in their expressions, emotions, and movement styles Focus on spacial and body awareness, floor work, leaps, and turns to further accelerate their training and give them a well-rounded facility Teaching age-appropriate creative movement, dance skills, student self-directed improvisation and composition, and interdisciplinary inquiry projects during and after school Experienced in developing and channeling group dynamics for positive learning outcomes Experienced in using differentiated and culturally responsive instruction and restorative justice classroom management approaches with and for BIPOC students Highly motivated and motivating Serving students, teachers and communities similar to our demographics Supporting an organizational vision, mission, core values and programs similar to ActUp Theater Attend all staff meetings required for planning Communicate with the team for all needs to accomplish the assigned task Preferred Qualifications Dance education grounded in professional artistry Professional experience with praise dancing and related choreography Convene safe spaces that increase empathy and understanding Ability to cater dances to various age ranges; creative choreography that is appropriate for respective production participants Ability to create choreography specific to the production vision of ActUp Theater Familiarity with student-initiated arts activities and programs Passion for the arts
