Our Dance Company Program fosters the technical, emotional, and mental development of dancers and teaches life skills that extend well beyond the dance studio. This program prioritizes physical and psychological safety and the value of teamwork, while encouraging self-expression and developing passion both on and off-stage. This full-time role is ideal for a passionate arts professional who thrives in both creative and administrative environments. The next leader in our Dance Company family will be ready to plant roots at our studio long-term and invest in overall personal, student, and program growth. Position Overview The Dance Company Assistant Director will work closely with the Director of Enrichment Programs to support the artistic, organizational, and operational needs of our Dance Company Program. This role encompasses teaching, choreography, program development, and administrative responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on communication, leadership, and attention to detail. Benefits 401k with employer match and health benefit options available for FT and PT employees Professional development opportunities Responsibilities Serve as a primary point of communication with Fusion Dance Company families in a professional and timely manner. Attend and lead meetings as needed with parents, faculty, staff, and students. Collaborate with the Director of Enrichment Programs on planning, scheduling, and program execution. Support day-to-day administrative tasks and projects by overseeing Program Manager and Coordinators. Teach engaging, structured classes and monitor student progress. Assist with class and choreography placement and yearly student evaluations. Choreograph dynamic pieces with creative staging and storytelling that challenge and develop dancers as performers, not just showcase tricks. Help ensure all choreography is stage-ready and students are prepared for dress rehearsals, competitions, and performances. Attend and serve as a leader for these events. Assist in the creative development and growth of the Dance Company program. Help mentor and train new Dance Company faculty and administrative team members. Create a welcoming, encouraging atmosphere where dancers feel safe and confident. Schedule 40 hours per week encompassing administrative work, evening classes, and Saturday rehearsals. Dress rehearsals, competitions, conventions, and performances per the yearly calendar. Opportunities to attend professional development throughout the season. Numerous opportunities for solo, duet, small and large group choreography Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a passionate, dedicated motivator who: Is passionate about dance education and youth development. Has a strong leadership presence with a positive, solution-oriented mindset. Has the ability to balance creative vision with administrative responsibilities. Is professional, reliable, and collaborative. Able to lead by example and open to growth by receiving and applying feedback. Demonstrates strong choreography skills for various numbers of dancers. Is ready to invest in the growth of the program long-term and be part of our dancers' journey and a valued member of our studio family. Preferred Experience Bachelor's Degree. Background in competitive dance, concert dance is a plus. Minimum 3 years experience in a managerial or leadership role within the arts. Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and possess strong communication skills. Minimum of 5 years experience teaching and choreographing at a competitive level for various ages and levels. The ability to teach multiple styles is non-negotiable. Must provide videos of choreography from studio rehearsals, competitions, or performances, not college-level or professional work.
