Job Description

Position:
Hip-Hop Dance Instructor Schedule:
Part-time, 4-8 hours per week, Monday - Thursday (4:15 PM - 9:45 PM) with potential additional hours on Sundays and flexibility for earlier evening hours. May required weekends for required performance and competition responsibilities. Summer hours vary depending on the role and studio programming.

DanceDirectors/Management Team Compensation & Benefits:
Starting wage: $22.00 per hour with an opportunity for a pay increase after 90 days based on performance. Winter break off and week of July 4th off . Opportunity for additional leadership roles and professional development.
Job Overview:
We are seeking an energetic and knowledgeable Hip-Hop Dance Instructor with high-level performance experience to join our team. The ideal candidate is skilled in Hip-Hop fundamentals, tricks, breaking, and/or tumbling , with the ability to teach various styles within Hip-Hop. They should have a deep understanding of age-appropriate movement and music, while keeping routines and classes fresh, innovative, and aligned with current trends in the Hip-Hop world. This role requires a strong stage presence, and classroom management skills to inspire students from beginner to advanced levels. The instructor must also be collaborative, professional, and passionate about fostering confidence and skill development in dancers.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
Instruction & Student Development:
Teach engaging and dynamic Hip-Hop classes for beginner to advanced students, incorporating fundamentals, freestyle, choreography, and performance techniques. Integrate tricks, breaking, and/or tumbling where appropriate based on student level and ability. Develop lesson plans that align with the studio's curriculum while staying current with trending styles and techniques in the Hip-Hop community. Create high-energy, performance-ready routines that align with appropriate studio standards in music and movement selection. Provide individualized feedback to students and track their progress through bi-annual progress reports. Recognize and celebrate student achievements using WOW Cards or similar celebratory methods.
Performance & Studio Representation:
Choreograph dynamic and engaging Hip-Hop pieces for recitals, showcases, and competition teams. Is a bonus not a must. Ensure all performances and competition routines uphold age-appropriate standards in music, movement, and costume selection. Attend and support all studio performances, showcases, and competitions, including select weekends throughout the year.
Communication & Engagement:
Maintain professional and timely communication with parents regarding student progress, attendance, and upcoming events. Actively collaborate with the management team and fellow instructors to align on curriculum, policies, and best practices. Participate in team meetings, training programs, and professional development opportunities.
Studio Culture & Teamwork:
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity, self-expression, and confidence. Work collaboratively with other instructors to develop curriculum and ensure a consistent teaching approach. Contribute to studio projects, workshops, and special initiatives as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
High-level performance experience in Hip-Hop, street dance styles, or commercial choreography. Strong knowledge and ability in Hip-Hop tricks, breaking, and/or tumbling. Experience teaching age-appropriate Hip-Hop classes and choreographing performance-ready routines. Understanding of appropriate music and costume selection to maintain studio values and standards. Ability to keep routines and classroom fresh, engaging, and aligned with the evolving Hip-Hop industry. Strong classroom management skills to maintain an engaging learning environment. Positive and professional demeanor with a welcoming attitude toward students and families. Well-organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple responsibilities effectively. Willingness to continue education through workshops, training programs, or certifications. Must be available to attend all studio performances and competitions (select weekends required). Passion for mentoring and inspiring students to develop confidence, creativity, and technique in Hip-Hop.
