Do you enjoy organizing musicians, selecting meaningful music, and creating a welcoming worship experience for every service? If so, we'd love to hear from you. We're looking for a Catholic Music Director to support the Catholic faith community at Maxwell Air Force Base. This rewarding 1099 contract offers $50 per hour , depending on experience, with an average commitment of 4-5 hours per week . You'll work closely with the Chaplain to lead music that enhances weekly Mass and special services while helping build a strong and supportive worship ministry. You'll plan, organize, and lead music for weekly Mass, Holy Days, funerals, memorial services, and other special events. You'll select appropriate music, lead volunteer musicians and choir members, and help create a meaningful worship experience for the congregation. This is a one-year contract offering flexible, part-time hours and the opportunity to make a lasting impact through music.
Key Responsibilities:
Select appropriate preludes, postludes, congregational hymns, and other music for worship services. Lead music during weekly Mass and special services. Play a lead instrument, such as piano, keyboard, or guitar. Accompany volunteer musicians, praise teams, and solo vocalists. Recruit, rehearse, and direct volunteer choir members and musicians. Prepare PowerPoint presentations with song lyrics. Set up microphones, music stands, and other equipment for services. Arrive at least 20 minutes before rehearsals and services. Attend parish council meetings or provide updates to the Chaplain. Keep chapel facilities and equipment organized, secure, and ready for worship. The Benefits $50 per hour, based on experience. Flexible part-time schedule of approximately 4-5 hours per week. 1099 independent contractor opportunity. One-year contract. Meaningful work serving the military faith community. The Person:
The successful Catholic Music Director will have: At least two years of church or chapel music experience. The ability to read music and understand vocal harmony. Confidence playing piano, keyboard, guitar, or another suitable lead instrument. Experience directing singers and musicians. Strong communication and organizational skills. A dependable and professional approach. A high school diploma and be at least 18 years of age. The ability to meet background check and base access requirements. A résumé with at least three relevant references. Active registration in the System for Award Management before submitting a quote.
