About Pasadena Christian School:
Pasadena Christian School is an independent Christian K-8 school that serves a diverse community ethnically, economically, and in the Christian faith. Academic Year Job Summary:
The Music Choral Director is responsible for leading and inspiring the school's choral program. The ideal candidate will be passionate about music education and have a deep understanding of vocal technique and repertoire.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Music Instruction:
Plan and coordinate choral performances for Kingdom Kids, Joyful Sounds, and Choral Workshop, including Grandparents' Day and the Christmas Program. Teach vocal techniques and music theory to choir members. Select an appropriate repertoire that aligns with the choir's skill level and goals. Organize and coordinate choral events. Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages collaboration and creativity. Stay current with trends in choral music and music education, incorporating new methodologies and technologies. Assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to teachers and administration. Maintain communication with students, parents, and the community regarding performances and expectations. Collaborate with staff to integrate choral music into the broader curriculum. Plan, develop, produce, direct, choreograph, and coordinate a once yearly music theatre production including Joyful sounds and choral workshop in the spring.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Experience with diverse musical genres and styles. Familiarity with digital music tools and technology for education. Knowledge of vocal health and techniques. Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in music education, Choral Conducting, or a related field (master's preferred). Experience conducting choirs at the [elementary/middle/high school/community] level. Proficiency in vocal technique and music theory. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying skill levels.

Demonstrates a Christ-centered love for children and the importance of Christian education in holistic development. Adheres to Biblical standards of conduct. Attests and reflects a Christian testimony. Proclaims they are a "Born Again" Christian who knows Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Physical, Mental, and Visual Requirements:
Able to lift, bend, grasp, reach, and lift to 20 lbs. Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Able to maintain confidentiality, work in a busy environment, learn, and retain information. Possesses a genuine commitment to Christian service. Has initiative and creativity, is highly productive, and is flexible. A self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Agrees with the school's statement of faith and the purpose and goals of PCS in providing an integrated Christian education.
Technologies:
Proficient in Google Apps, and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
Compensation:
The annual compensation may vary based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to salary, PCS offers a generous benefits package including but not limited to medical, dental, and vision benefit plans for eligible employees.
