Job Description

Director of Contemporary Worship New Hope Presbyterian Church - 4.7 Fort Myers, FL Job Details Part-time | Full-time 2 hours ago Qualifications Music Teamwork Management Presentation software Interpersonal skills Religious music performance experience Team leadership Employee relationship building Bachelor's degree Attention to detail Managing music teams Live production performance Worship band conducting Technical Proficiency Religious leadership Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a gifted worship leader who is first and foremost a devoted follower of Jesus — someone whose musicianship flows from a deep and personal walk with God. You will be a shepherd before you are a musician, a disciple-maker before you are a director. If you are drawn to both the creative and the pastoral dimensions of worship ministry, this role was built for you. Spiritual & character qualifications A spiritually mature follower of Jesus with an ongoing, vibrant walk with Christ. Lifestyle congruent with the biblical qualifications for church leaders (1 Tim. 3:2-7; Titus 1:5-9). Teachable, faithful, and willing to be held accountable. Deeply committed to the mission and values of New Hope Presbyterian Church. Willing to become an active member of New Hope and serve under the direction of the Senior Pastor and Leadership Team. A team player who is humble in working with others, hungry to do the work, and emotionally healthy in relationships. Committed to building genuine relationships across the worship team, staff, leadership, congregation, and broader community. Primary responsibilities Worship planning & leadership Develop, prepare, and lead the weekly contemporary worship service in close collaboration with the Senior Pastor. Select music that is theologically sound, aligned with the church's mission, and connected to the preaching calendar. Provide charts, arrangements, lyric sheets, and on-screen presentation materials for every service. Maintain an organized print and digital music library for use by the worship team. Support other church gatherings as needed, including special services, memorial services, and seasonal events. Team development & discipleship Spiritually shepherd, train, and care for the volunteer worship team — investing in them as people, not just musicians. Recruit and develop gifted musicians and vocalists for the worship team. Nurture and coach team members to grow in both musical skill and spiritual maturity. Manage weekly schedules and rehearsals with clarity, efficiency, and care for volunteers' time. Cultivate a healthy team culture rooted in humility, excellence, and authentic worship. Production & technical oversight Maintain a working knowledge of technical equipment used in worship — including mixing consoles, microphones, computers, and presentation software. Collaborate closely with the Director of Technology to ensure seamless audio, visual, and production quality. Qualifications Required Demonstrated experience leading worship teams in a church setting. Strong vocalist and proficient instrumentalist (guitar or keyboard preferred). Ability to read music and arrange for a contemporary worship band. Broad knowledge of Christian worship music across multiple styles and generational expressions. Proficiency with Planning Center Online, CCLI SongSelect, and ProPresenter. Detail-oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines, and work with appropriate independence. Coachable and receptive to constructive feedback. Preferred Bachelor's degree in Music, Worship Arts, Ministry, or a related field. Experience in a Presbyterian and Reformed church context. Familiarity with livestream production and online worship environments.
