PART I:
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Drumline Instructor provides specialized instruction and leadership for the marching band percussion section, including the drumline and front ensemble, during the marching band season. This position is responsible for developing students' technical proficiency, musicality, and performance readiness while fostering a culture of discipline, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Working in coordination with the Band Director and program staff, the Drumline Instructor designs and implements rehearsals, supports show preparation and execution, and ensures alignment with the overall vision and standards of the marching band program.
PART II:
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES A. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited college or university
B. CREDENTIALS
Illinois Professional Educator license with the required endorsements as provided in the school code.
C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong knowledge of percussion fundamentals, both battery and front ensemble Experience performing with and/or teaching a collegiate, DCI, or WGI drumline and/or front ensemble Knowledge of the State, Federal and School Board Policies and Regulations regarding student conduct and appropriate disciplinary action; Effective, active listening skills; Organizational and problem-solving skills; Accounting/spelling and proofreading skills; Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing; Availability to work during assigned hours; Leadership ability; Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds

ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS

Accompanies and supervises Drum Line members and events at all extracurricular events; Assists with events related to instrumental music; Attends meetings and in-services as required; Coordinates Drum Line activities with other events and/or fund raising projects; Ensures safety of students; In the fall, participates in all Marching Band practices and performances; Interacts in a positive manner with staff, students and parents; Maintains respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., student records, etc.; Makes contacts with the public in a tactful and diplomatic manner; Plans, and coordinates special activities and events, as applicable; Promotes good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation; Responds to routine questions and requests in a timely, appropriate manner; Responsible for all aspects of Drum Line organization; Responsible for auditions; Responsible for polished and professional performance of Drumline at all public performances; Serves as a role model for students; Performs other related duties as assigned.
