Position Summary:
Pineville First UMC currently offers a blended worship service and is working toward relaunching a dedicated contemporary worship service. The Worship Band Leader will lead musically within the current blended service, collaborate closely with the Traditional Music Director, and lay the groundwork (team, systems, and culture) needed to relaunch a thriving contemporary service in the future. This is a builder role. The right person is as comfortable leading from a stage today as they are recruiting and discipling a team for tomorrow. Key Responsibilities Plan and lead contemporary music elements within the weekly blended worship service Rehearse and direct any current contemporary musicians/vocalists Coordinate song selection, transitions, and service flow for blended worship Communicate clearly and regularly with the team via Planning Center Services, always planning rather than being reactive Ensure Proclaim Media is correct prior to Sunday Worship Maintain a spirit of partnership rather than competition between styles Communicate regularly with the Pastor on planning calendars, rehearsals, and special services Recruit musicians, vocalists, and tech volunteers for a future contemporary team Help shape the sound, style, and philosophy of the future contemporary service Manage a rehearsal schedule for current and developing musicians Maintain music licensing (CCLI) and song libraries Communicate with volunteers regarding scheduling and needs Qualifications Mature, growing Christian faith consistent with the doctrine and polity of The United Methodist Church Musical proficiency (vocal or instrumental) with modern contemporary worship styles Experience leading musicians and/or building a volunteer team Strong collaborator who works well with other leaders and staff Comfortable both performing/leading and coaching/training others Hours & Compensation Approximately 10 hours per week
Compensation:
$1,000/month Schedule includes weekly rehearsal and Sunday service; occasional evening planning meetings What Success Looks Like in Year One Contemporary elements in the blended service are well-prepared and spiritually engaging Collaborative relationship with existing band members A strong working relationship between the Music Director and Pastor A growing bench of trained volunteers and paid musicians All Pineville FUMC employees must pass pre-employment testing such as a drug screen and background check. They must also read and follow all Church Policies and Procedures.
