Brockton High School Brockapella Director Position Overview Brockton High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic A Cappella Director to lead Brockapella. The director will guide students in developing strong vocal technique, ensemble skills, and engaging performance practices, while preparing the group for school and community events. About Brockapella Brockapella is an after-school a cappella ensemble specializing in unaccompanied choral singing. This group highlights student musicianship through vocal harmony, blend, and performance without instrumental accompaniment. Brockapella performs at a variety of school and community events, serving as an important musical ambassador for Brockton High School. Key Responsibilities Audition and select students for membership in the ensemble Lead weekly rehearsals from September through March Select and arrange (or source) a cappella repertoire suited to student voices Develop students skills in harmony, blend, tuning, and vocal percussion (if applicable) Prepare and direct performances at school and community events Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative rehearsal environment Coordinate scheduling and communication related to performances Qualifications Experience in choral music, a cappella performance, or vocal ensemble leadership Strong understanding of vocal technique and ensemble singing Ability to engage and motivate high school students Excellent organizational and communication skills Passion for music education and student artistic growth Time Commitment Approximately 60 hours of work from September through March Performance Responsibilities Brockapella performs at community events throughout the year. It is the responsibility of the Harmonics Director to identify, coordinate, and organize these performance opportunities.
