Musical Director Description:
The Newton Country Day School Theatre Director is responsible for directing andanizing NCDS's extracurricular fall full-length musical. This year we are producing Les Misérables: School Edition. This role also involves managing the rehearsal calendar, collaborating closely with the production team, and mentoring student leaders to ensure a vibrant, inclusive, and educational experience. T is room for growth that could also entail leading future NCDS musical productions. Key Responsibilities Direct our Upper School Musical. Oversee all creative, rehearsal, and performance aspects from auditions through final performances. Fall season (8/24/26-11/21/26) Collaborate with the Producer, Music Director, Choreographer, Technical Director, and Costume Designer to develop a cohesive vision. Create and maintain detailed rehearsal and production calendars, including Tech Weeks. Liaise with the Arts Chair/Producer on space allocation, scheduling, and budget.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience directing high school-level theater or equivalent educationalmunity experience. Bachelor's degree in theater, musical theatre, or a related field; Masters degree preferred. At least 2 years of relevant experience is preferred. Stronganizational,munication, and leadership skills. Familiarity with technical theater processes andmitment to inclusive environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong music background in order to fully support this particular production. Newton Country Day School is an equal opportunity employer.
