TITLE:
Assistant Band Director - Clara Barton School
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Building Principal, the Assistant Band Director is responsible for working with the Band Director to provide direct instruction in band education to elementary students and assessing and evaluating students' abilities for the purpose of growing the band program in the Oxford Public Schools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching students how to play musical instruments, how to read music and understand its basic concepts, develop proper technique for their chosen instruments, and understanding the technical aspects of music and performance. Holding 90-minute after school band sessions on Thursday and Fridays. Evaluate students' progress and give feedback on their level of mastery and performance. Assist with planning and overseeing instrument rental night. Oversee the care, upkeep, and storage of all district-owned band equipment and instruments. Assess instruments for repair and replacement, proper care and cleaning, any needed repairs and storage of all band equipment. Plan and oversee two (2) band concerts per school year (winter/spring). Remain in close communication with the Barton, Middle, and High School Band Directors. Having a good vision of growth in the band program. Serve as a positive role model for students at all times.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Current member of the Oxford Education Association.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
