Music Director Middle School (5-8) Musical2026-2027 School YearShrewsbury Public Schools is currently accepting applications for a Music Director for the Middle School (5-8) Musical. This position pays a stipend of $2,932, which is received after the performance(s) are completed. We are interested in candidates who are invested in the achievement, equity, and access of all learners in and beyond the classroom.

Candidates with diverse racial, cultural, religious, class, and/or gender background and experiences are strongly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities Include:
Works with the Director to read, research, and select productionHolds auditions and selects all cast membersCreates budget and expectations for the music portion (pit)Teaches and rehearses all music from the show with the castAuditions members for the pit orchestraRehearses the pit orchestra before the sitzprobeWorks with the Director and Choreographer to provide correct vamps, cuts, transpositions, and repeatsAssures a safe and comfortable environment for all studentsInteracts collaboratively with administration, nursing, and special education staff to make sure that student, parent, and teacher needs are being metCoordinates musical rehearsals and performances between the staff at both Sherwood and OakLeads the pit orchestra and accompanies at the piano for all productions
