Vocal Music Director for a
Musical Production Robbinsdale Armstrong High School General Description:
The Vocal Music Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of music in a production.
Responsibilities:
Collaborates with the Artistic Director on interpretation/vision of the production. Oversees and communicates information to the music staff. Attends production meetings. Researches specific styles of music (where appropriate). Runs music auditions. Assists Artistic Director and Choreographer with casting the show. Teaches cast and chorus all vocal selections. Communicates vocal needs to the Choreographer.
Specific Duties:
Hires Rehearsal Accompanist. Selects music for auditions. Submits vocal rehearsal schedule to Artistic Director for master schedule. Runs vocal rehearsals. Communicates tempos and other musical needs to the Orchestra Conductor. Attends all run throughs and dress rehearsals. Creates a microphone plot. Coordinates with the Sound Engineer for microphone checks.
Requirements:
The candidate for this position will hold a bachelor's degree in music and possess at least three years of musical theatre experience. A teaching degree is preferred, but not necessary. Good communication skills with adults and students are essential. A criminal background check is required by the district before employment.
