Job Description

Job Overview To promote leadership in the development and implementation of the music ministries of Sharon Methodist Church, and to actively engage the congregation in worship through music. Duties
  • Coordinate music at all worship services. Work with the Pastor and Worship Team in planning weekly and special music.
  • Coordinate music, media, and worship services with the Pastor.
  • Be willing to provide musical assistance for weddings and funerals.
  • Direct the Praise Team and Choir.
  • Provide instrumental and vocal coaching for individuals and groups to improve skills for instrumental and vocal presentations.
  • Promote the music program in the church.
  • Maintain regular, consistent rehearsals with the choir and Praise Team.
  • Select appropriate musical selections based on the Pastor's chosen scripture and message.
  • Plan and conduct special music on occasion, as well as on holidays.
  • Organize all music materials.
  • Provide the Administrative Assistant and Media volunteers with song lyrics and other information for the weekly bulletin.
  • Be an active participant of the Worship Team and Administrative Team.
  • Work closely with the Pastor to assume other duties as needed. Qualifications
  • A commitment to spiritual growth as a disciple of Jesus Christ.
  • Proven leadership and team building experience.
  • Ability to promote harmony in the Music Department by maintaining good relationships with all of those involved.
  • A degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or equivalent experience.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Encouraging, supportive personal skills.
  • Ability to actively engage the congregation through music.
  • Experience with small ensemble/praise band performance (piano, drums, bass, guitar, vocal).
  • Experience leading choral groups.
  • Piano/organ skills preferred.
