First Baptist Church, Morehead City, NC 28557 Position Summary First Baptist Church of Morehead City, NC seeks a spiritually grounded, musically gifted Choir Director to lead the adult choir during our weekly traditional & blended worship services and provide occasional backup leadership for our praise and worship team (10 members). This role is ideal for someone passionate about serving our Lord and fostering meaningful worship experiences through vocal music and team collaboration. Key Responsibilities Choir Leadership Direct weekly rehearsals and prepare the choir for Sunday traditional and blended services Recruit choir members and encourage spiritual growth and musical excellence among choir members Select, arrange, and teach music that aligns with sermon themes in a variety of worship music styles Coordinate special music for holidays and other services (e.g., Christmas, Easter) Lead worship during our 8:30 AM traditional worship service and 11 AM blended worship service. This includes rehearsals on a weeknight and sound check/warm-up/rehearsals on Sunday mornings. Assist as needed in Vacation Bible School music activities/programs. Oversee and recruit leaders for Children's Choirs ministry Oversee the maintenance of all church instruments. Maintain all relevant licensure related to music. Submit annual music ministry budget and maintain music library Praise Team Support Serve as a backup worship leader for the praise team as needed Assist in vocal coaching as needed during rehearsals Collaborate with the musicians for cohesive worship sets Administrative and Collaborative Duties Communicate scheduling and music plans with the choir/worship & AV team Attend worship planning meetings as needed Qualifications Strong music reading, vocal and choral directing skills with the ability to lead both traditional and contemporary styles Bachelor's Degree or higher from a Bible College, Seminary, or University in the field of worship, church music, music education/performance. Music/Worship certifications will also be considered. A strong personal relationship with the Lord and a clear sense of calling to worship ministry Working knowledge or willingness to be trained in the areas of digital and analog audio sound equipment, and in programming and equalizing house and live broadcast audio levels Experience leading worship or vocal teams preferred Spiritually mature and aligned with the mission and values of First Baptist Church of Morehead City, NC Proficient in planning and communication; team-oriented Excellent skills and relevant experience in worship leadership, worship planning, instrumental and vocal performance, choral conducting, and musical arrangement. Team player with a joyful spirit, a good sense of humor, and a teachable spirit.
