With both traditional and modern worship services, Mount Tabor values excellence in worship and fosters a collaborative and creative staff culture. The Director of Modern Music Ministries is a full-time leadership role responsible for shaping and leading a dynamic, theologically grounded modern music ministry. This position guides all aspects of modern worship music—including vocal, instrumental, and technical elements—with the goal of deepening spiritual engagement and fostering meaningful worship experiences. Working collaboratively with pastoral staff and ministry leaders, the Director oversees the planning and execution of modern worship services, leads and develops the worship band and support teams, and cultivates a culture of excellence, participation, and spiritual growth through music. This role also serves as a bridge between church and community, expanding the reach and impact of Mount Tabor's music ministry through partnerships, special events, and outreach. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and direct all aspects of music for modern worship services.
• Coordinate and develop the modern worship band, including vocalists, instrumentalists, and technical support teams.
• Collaborate with pastors and worship planning teams to design cohesive, theologically grounded worship services.
• Recruit, mentor, and supervise music staff, volunteers, and guest musicians.
• Coordinate weekly service logistics, scheduling, and communication using Planning Center Online.
• Oversee the music ministry budget, instruments, equipment, and worship space.
• Build relationships within the local music community to enhance programming and outreach.
• Partner with the Traditional Music Director and other staff to support church-wide worship and special services. Qualifications
• Master's degree in music or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong background in vocal training and leading contemporary worship music.
• Significant experience directing music in a church setting with proven ability to lead and collaborate with diverse band musicians and support personnel.
• Deep understanding of the role of music in worship and spiritual formation.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Experience with worship planning tools (e.g., Planning Center Online).
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with creativity and attention to detail.
• Established connections within the music community are a plus. Compensation & Benefits
• Salary range: $50,000-$65,000, commensurate with experience
• 10 paid holidays plus one floating holiday annually
• Paid vacation (2 weeks for years 1-5, prorated first year)
• 403(b) retirement plan with 6% employer contribution (eligible after 90 days)
• Potential for partial hybrid work flexibility

Leadership & Accountability:

This position reports to the Executive Pastor and works closely with the Senior Pastor, Traditional Music Director, and other ministry staff.

Schedule Expectations:

This role requires regular Sunday morning leadership, weekly rehearsals (Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings), and occasional evenings and special services throughout the year.
