Music Director First Presbyterian Church Hackensack Hackensack, NJ Job Details Part-time $28,000 - $30,000 a year 1 day ago Qualifications Management Budget management planning Hiring Purchasing Library services Full Job Description In communication with the Pastor, Personnel Elder and Worship Elder, the Director of Music shall; Facilitate the performance of a variety of music styles, including but not limited to gospel, praise, contemporary, classical, jazz music in worship by encouraging and supporting the choir and our multi-cultural congregation. Responsible for the choir and its growth, which includes holding weekly rehearsals and performing at all worship services and celebrations. Meet regularly with the Pastor and the Worship committee to discuss preparation and selection of music in accordance with liturgical celebrations. Offer musical assistance with committees as needed (i.e. Christian Education presentations) Maintain the Music library. This to include the community's compliance with U.S. Copyright Law. Maintain the piano, organ and other musical instruments and schedule maintenance in connection with the Elder of Building & Grounds. Instruments include Skinner Organ Opus 778 (Rebuilt), a Yamaha Grand Piano in the Sanctuary and an upright Kawai piano in the Choir Room. Oversee the hiring of guest musicians, substitutes and accompanists. Stay within the constraints of the budget, select and purchase new music. Stay within the constraints of the budget, plan for instrumentalists and vocalists.
Rehearsals:
Midweek, Evening Sundays:
warm up 9:30 a.m., service at 10:30 a.m.
Summer/July-August services:
10:30 a.m. no choir
Pay:
$28,000.00 - $30,000.00 per year
