Director of Music Ministries

The Director of Music is a critical member of the staff and leadership team of Kinsman Presbyterian Church. The Director contributes to the worship and faith formation of our committee. The Director is charged with selecting, arranging, and performing excellent music. The Director may also supervise or coordinate external musicians. The successful candidate will possess a creative vision for the future of the Kinsman Presbyterian Church music program. The successful candidate will demonstrate an awareness for developing and building the music program, including connecting with external organizations and musicians. The candidate selected for the position should also possess an understanding of how music serves as a means of faith formation and spiritual development. Music and Liturgical Leadership

• Play the piano and/or organ at weekly worship service. When absent, arrange for coverage.
• Play the piano and/or organ at special music services (including Christmas Eve, Holy Week, etc.).
• Provide feedback and guidance to the Pastor and the Worship Committee regarding music offerings of the church.
• Develop an annual Music Program budget in consultation with the Worship Committee and Pastor.
• Oversee the care of church musical instruments (piano, organ, handbells, etc.).
• Coordinate with the Pastor to offer occasional music concerts at the church, open to the public.
• Play for funerals and/or weddings, or help identify coverage.
• Other duties as assigned by the Pastor. Personnel Management, Recruitment, and Retention
• Supervise and manage volunteer musicians of the church, including guest musicians.
• Actively recruit and retain members of church choir, both volunteer and paid, in collaboration with Pastor and Worship Committee.
• Develop meaningful relationships with local musicians and academies of music including, but not limited to, YSU Dana School of Music and Thiel College.

From $10,000.00 per year
