Job Description
Catholic Music Director - Part-Time Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma $50 per hour | Approximately 2-4 hours per week | 1099 Contract Do you have the musical ability to bring people together and create a meaningful worship experience? Are you an experienced church musician who can confidently lead singers, instrumentalists and volunteers? The role Altus Air Force Base Chapel is looking for a skilled and dependable Catholic Music Director to lead the music program for Catholic Mass. This is an opportunity to use your musical experience in a role that has a genuine impact on the chapel community. Working closely with the Catholic Chaplain or Wing Chaplain, you will select music, lead rehearsals and help ensure every service is thoughtfully prepared. The contract includes one base year with the possibility of four additional option years. Key Responsibilities Select suitable music for Mass, including preludes, postludes and congregational hymns Lead music for weekly Mass, Holy Days, funerals, memorials and special services Play a lead instrument, such as piano, keyboard or guitar Accompany volunteer praise teams and solo vocalists Recruit, rehearse and direct volunteer musicians and choir members Prepare PowerPoint slides containing song lyrics Set up microphones, music stands and other required equipment Arrive at least 20 minutes before rehearsals and services Attend parish council meetings or provide an update for the chaplain Keep chapel facilities and equipment secure, tidy and properly arranged The Benefits Approximately 2-4 working hours each week Chapel equipment and supplies provided A rewarding opportunity to serve the Catholic community Long-term contract potential A role where your creativity and musical leadership will be valued The person You will need: At least two years of church or chapel music experience The ability to read music and understand vocal harmony Confidence playing piano, keyboard, guitar or another suitable lead instrument Experience leading singers and musicians Strong communication and organizational skills A professional, positive and dependable approach A high school diploma and a minimum age of 18 The ability to meet background-check and base-access requirements A résumé and at least three relevant references Active registration in the System for Award Management before submitting a quote What's next Apply today with your résumé, references and pricing information to bring your musical leadership to the Catholic community at Altus Air Force Base.
