Director of Music Ministries West View United Methodist Church Pittsburgh, PA Job Details Part-time $18 an hour 13 hours ago Qualifications Computer operation Google Workspace Administrative experience Clerical experience Office management Full Job Description West View United Methodist Church is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-Time Music Director to lead and coordinate the music ministry of our church. The Music Director will work collaboratively with the Pastor, accompanist, choir members, and other ministry leaders to enrich worship through music and support special seasonal programs.
Primary Responsibilities:
Prepare and coordinate music selections for weekly worship services in collaboration with the Pastor, accompanist, and handbell choir director. Select songs for, direct, and rehearse with the church choir. Lead weekly choir rehearsals on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings prior to worship services. Coordinate music for special programs including Christmas pageants, puppet shows, children's choir presentations, and other church events. Plan and organize special music for Christmas, Easter, and other special services. Ensure the sanctuary sound system is operating properly before each service. Set up and oversee the portable keyboard for outdoor worship services during the summer months. Coordinate with the accompanist and arrange alternative accompaniment when necessary. Prepare musical recordings when needed for worship services.
Schedule:
This position typically requires 3-6 hours per week , including: One hour during the week (Tuesday or Wednesday) to meet with the Pastor regarding upcoming worship music.
Thursday choir rehearsal:
6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Sunday rehearsal and worship service:
approximately 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Additional hours may be required during Advent and Lenten seasons to support special music programs and services.
Qualifications:
Experience directing church choirs or other vocal ensembles. Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, musicians, volunteers, and church staff. Knowledge of traditional Christian worship music and choir leadership. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to recruit, encourage, and support volunteer musicians and singers.
