  • Part-time Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Director of Music/Organist to lead and inspire our vibrant music ministry.
This role is vital in shaping the musical worship experience, fostering spiritual growth through music, and nurturing a welcoming community atmosphere. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of exceptional musical talent, leadership prowess, and a heartfelt commitment to ministry. As a key member of our faith community, you will craft meaningful musical selections, oversee choirs, and collaborate closely with clergy and staff to enhance worship services. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact through the power of music and spiritual expression. Responsibilities Lead the musical components of worship services, including organ and choir performances, ensuring they align with the liturgical calendar and thematic elements. Develop and rehearse musical programs with choirs, instrumentalists, and soloists to deliver engaging and spiritually uplifting performances. Mentor and train choir members and musicians, fostering their growth in both musical skill and spiritual understanding. Collaborate with clergy and worship teams to select appropriate music that enhances sermons, ceremonies, and special events. Coordinate scheduling for rehearsals, performances, and special services while maintaining a welcoming environment for all participants. Oversee maintenance of all musical instruments, including the organ, ensuring they are properly tuned and cared for. Promote a positive team atmosphere through effective communication skills, encouragement, and leadership that inspires confidence and dedication. Qualifications Proven experience as an organist or director of music within a faith-based or community setting. Strong teaching skills with the ability to mentor choir members and emerging musicians. Excellent leadership qualities with a talent for inspiring teamwork and fostering community engagement. Exceptional communication skills to collaborate effectively with clergy, staff, volunteers, and congregation members. Demonstrated ability to select appropriate repertoire that supports worship themes while engaging diverse audiences. Knowledge of liturgical traditions across various denominations is preferred but not required. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
