PRIMARY PURPOSE
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their
potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop
competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
QUALIFICATIONS
EducationCertification:
Bachelor's degree from accredited university or college
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subjectlevel assigned
Special KnowledgeSkills:
Knowledge subjects assigned
General knowledge curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:
At least three years experience directing high school level bands as assistant or head director
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Instructional . Develop and implement plans for the curriculum program assigned and show
Strategies written evidence preparation as required.
. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodation for individual student differences.
. Present the subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas
Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
. Plan and use appropriate instructionallearning strategies, activities, materials,
and equipment that reflect accommodation for individual needs students
assigned.
. Conduct assessment student learning styles and use results for instructional
activities.
. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as
needed for special education students according to guidelines established by
Individual Education Plans (IEP).
. Cooperate with other members the staff in planning and implementing
instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
Head Band Director
. Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides(s) andor
volunteer(s).
. Use technologies in the teachinglearning process.
Student . Assist students in analyzing and improving methods and habits study.
Growth and
Development. Consistently assess student achievement through formal and informal testing.
. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and may sponsor
outside activities approved by the school.
. Present a positive role model for students that supports the mission the school
district.
Classroom . Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the

. Manage student behavior in the classroom and administer discipline according to
board policies, administrative regulations, and IEP.

parents.

Policy . Keep informed and comply with state, district, and school regulations and

. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as
required.
Band . To assist the Principal, Fine Arts Director and in assigning the assistant
Duties instructors (if any) in the Band Programs at hisher school and to supervise and
coordinate their responsibilities.
Head Band Director
. To ensure adherence to scheduled travel to junior school campuses and
assigned timeframes alongside the Fine Arts Director.
. To attend all meetings with Fine Arts Director as required.
. To assist in the presentation the band portion the Fine Arts and campus
budgets.
. To review and submit all purchase orders for equipment, supplies, and
transportation for the Band Program in a timely manner.
. To be responsible for submitting all transportation requests and fee requests in a
timely manner.
. To maintain a current inventory all Band equipment (and furniture) and be
responsible for proper care the equipment.
. To issue work order requests to the Principal for work to be done in their area of
the campus.
. To be aware that participation in all stipend-based duties, including but not
limited to, UIL Marching Contest (high school only), UIL Concert and Sight- reading Contest, UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest, TMEA All-RegionAreaState
Auditions are required.
. To have a current edition the UIL Constitution and Contest Rules and have a
thorough understanding all rules, regulations, and dates that pertain to the
Band Program.
. To attend spring and fall business meetings

Regional directors.
Absence needs to be cleared in advance with the Fine Arts Director.
. To develop an ongoing system regular before school, after-school, andor
evening rehearsals that will increase opportunities for student success.
. To develop rehearsal schedules during the summer recess that will facilitate
intensive tutoring for students.
. To be responsible for all scholastic eligibility checks as required by TEA and
GCCISD.
. To encourage students to participate in all areas competition as it relates to
the Band Program (e.g., All Region, S & E, etc.).
. To develop a public relations program that will keep the public aware the
accomplishments and endeavors the Band Program.
. To be responsible for the guidance all booster club activities as policies and
procedures require.
