Director of Music Ministries (Part-Time) First United Methodist Church
- Rockport, TX Position Overview First United Methodist Church of Rockport is seeking a passionate and spiritually grounded Director of Music Ministries to lead and grow our worship and music programs.
This individual will collaborate with the pastor and worship team to create meaningful, engaging worship experiences that reflect our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ. This is a part-time leadership role ideal for someone who is called to use music to shape meaningful, Christ-centered worship and is excited to develop musicians of all ages. Key Responsibilities Plan and lead music for weekly worship services in collaboration with the pastor and staff Lead a blended music ministry including choir, praise band, and congregational worship Direct adult choir (seasonally or as scheduled) Lead and rehearse the praise band for weekly worship Serve as a primary worship leader (vocally and/or instrumentally) or coordinate leaders as needed Select hymns, songs, and special music that align with worship themes Recruit, develop, and mentor vocalists and instrumentalists Provide or coordinate special music throughout the year, including holidays (Christmas, Easter, Holy Week, etc.) Develop opportunities for children and other age groups to participate in music ministry Coordinate with accompanists and volunteers Maintain music library and resources Assist with planning and executing special worship services and programs Attend staff and worship planning meetings Qualifications Experience directing church choirs, praise bands, or music programs Strong musical ability (piano, organ, guitar, or voice preferred) Ability to lead worship and work collaboratively with church staff Knowledge of church music and worship traditions Degree in music or equivalent experience preferred Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills Who You Are A person of faith with spiritual maturity and integrity Passionate about worship and helping others grow through music Comfortable working across a variety of musical styles and skill levels A team player who builds relationships within the church
Position Details Part-Time:
