The ideal candidate will possess a strong musical background, demonstrate a passion for various musical genres from Baptist hymns to Contemporary music, and have experience in playing the Hammond organ and keyboard in a church setting. Lead singers are a plus but not required. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the spiritual life of our congregation through inspiring musical leadership. Church located near Howard University and United States Capital. Responsibilities Perform organ music during weekly worship services, special ceremonies, and community events. Collaborate with pastors, choir director, and other musicians to select appropriate repertoire that enhances the worship experience. Maintain and care for the church's organ and related musical equipment. Prepare music for upcoming services, including rehearsals with choir or soloists as needed. Lead congregational singing by providing musical accompaniment that encourages active participation. Assist in organizing special musical programs or seasonal concerts aligned with church activities. Skills Proficiency in playing the organ with a strong understanding of church gospel hymns and sacred music traditions. Experience with theater-style performance techniques to engage congregations effectively. Excellent communication skills for collaboration with church staff and musicians. Flexibility to adapt performances to various service formats and special events. A passion for spiritual and gospel music and community engagement through the arts. Promote and inspire choir growth through music ministry visionand passion.
