Part-time Schedule:
Sunday mornings and one weekday evening rehearsal per week, plus designated special services
Estimated Hours:
Approximately 2.5 hours per week, excluding preparation and special services Primary Duties and Responsibilities Provide piano accompaniment for the weekly 9:30 a.m. Catholic Sunday Mass. Arrive at least 30 minutes before Mass to support choir rehearsal. Coordinate and lead approximately one one-hour weekday rehearsal each week. Select appropriate Catholic liturgical music in consultation with the Catholic priest. Prepare and submit the monthly music plan by the required deadline. Play traditional, contemporary, and modern Catholic worship music. Direct the choir and provide vocal leadership when required. Recruit and train volunteer vocalists and instrumentalists from the congregation. Coordinate microphone placement and use. Prepare lyric slides in PowerPoint when requested. Provide musical support for designated Holy Days, holidays, reconciliation services, Confirmation, and other seasonal services. Maintain dependable attendance and professional conduct in a military chapel environment. Qualifications Demonstrated proficiency in piano performance. Ability to read sheet music and accompany congregational and choir singing. Familiarity with current Catholic liturgical practices, Mass structure, and appropriate sacred music. Experience directing or supporting a church choir. Ability to lead rehearsals and work effectively with volunteer singers and musicians. Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills. Prior experience supporting religious worship services is preferred. A music degree is preferred but not required. Must be able to meet Marine Corps Base Hawaii background screening, security, and installation-access requirements. Must be a U.S. citizen or qualifying U.S. permanent resident. Special Services The pianist may provide support for services such as Christmas and Midnight Mass, Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, All Saints Day, Immaculate Conception, Confirmation, reconciliation services, and other designated Catholic Holy Day
