Our Music School offers lessons in 30+ instruments and voices for all ages in all musical styles with a faculty of 100+ professional teaching artists. Groton Hill Music Center is seeking a talented, adaptable, and collaborativeGuitarist Intern to support our Summer Jams program. We are seeking a motivated, high-energy college student andguitarist to join our team as aSummer Jams Intern. This role is perfect for a music major, music education major, or a passionate collegiate guitarist looking to gain hands-on experience in music pedagogy, camp operations, and youth mentorship. As an intern, you won't just be watching from the sidelines—you will be picking up your guitar, leading breakouts, jamming alongside campers, and helping to create an unettable summer of music.
PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Assist instructors by leading small group instruction for beginner and intermediate guitar campers. Provide harmonic and rhythmic grounding (chords,ping, and basic riffs) during full-camp jam sessions and rehearsals. campers understand basic guitar maintenance, tuning, effect pedal setups, and amplifier operation. Assist in managing daily camp schedules, transitions between classes, and lunchtime supervision. stage-manage the end-of-week Summer Jams showcase Maintain a positive, inclusive, and enthusiastic attitude to inspire campers aged 13-18.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ideal candidates should have a minimum of 4 years of playing, and are enrolled in an undergraduate program (Music, Music Education, or a related field is a plus, but passion and skill matter most). Strongmand of the instrument, including acoustic and electric styles, is required, as is the ability to read chord charts and lead simple lead/rhythm parts by ear. Previous experience as a camp counselor, tutor, or music teacher is highly preferred.
