Our Music School offers lessons in 30+ instruments and voices for all ages in all musical styles with a faculty of 100+ professional teaching artists. Groton Hill Music Center is seeking a talented, adaptable, and collaborativePiano Apanist Intern to support our Broadway Masterclass program. This role is designed for a strong high school or college pianist looking to gain hands-on experience in a rigorous high school musical theater environment.
PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Rehearsal & Class Support:
Provide live piano apaniment for rehearsals throughout the day.
Technical Proficiency:
Advanced piano skills with a strong emphasis on rhythmic and melodic precision, sight reading, and expressive storytelling.
Style Versatility:
A deep understanding of the musical theater genre and the ability to mimic different orchestral colors on the piano.
Sight-Reading:
Exceptional sight-reading skills are a must, as students may bring in new material with little notice.
Transposition & Editing:
Assist with on-the-fly transpositions or cuts to sheet music to fit student vocal ranges and audition requirements.
Collaboration:
A "team-player" mentality with the ability to take direction from clinicians and provide a supportive environment for student performers.
Professionalism:
Punctuality and a polished presence suitable for a premier performing arts center.
Administrative Support:
manage the digital and physical sheet music library for the program.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ideal candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of playing at a level described in the responsibilities outlined above.
