JOBFUNCTIONS
Skills & Qualifications •
Instrument Mastery:
High proficiency on both the acoustic piano and the Hammond B3 organ (or digital equivalent). •
Stylistic Versatility:
Expert knowledge of traditional gospel, contemporary praise and worship, spirituals, and traditional hymns. •
Aural Acuity:
Strong capability to play by ear, learn songs quickly without sheet music, and construct complex chord voicings. •
Improvisation:
Ability to create dynamic vamps, bridges, and extended intros/outros on the fly. •
Cultural Competency:
An understanding of the cultural and historical significance of African American sacred music, as well as an ability to engage interactively with the congregation. Working Environment & Expectations •
Schedule:
Part-time. Requires presence on Sunday mornings for two services, and mid-week Thursday rehearsals. Other services/rehearsals are additional and compensated outside of this schedule. •
Leadership:
Must function as an energetic, collaborative team player reporting to the Director of Visual and Performing Arts and Director of Bands •
