Role :

Some preparatory work will be completed outside of the Sunday School hour/prior to Sunday to gather materials and set up the classroom. During class, the Sunday School Leader will guide student learning through the prepared lesson, help manage behaviors, keep students safe and show God's love through their actions with the support of a volunteer/helper. Also, this person must have an understanding of the issues that children face and the skills that children have at various ages (classes are split by ages, Kindergarten-6th grade). The Leader will agree to understand and abide by David's Safe Church Policies at all times (to be provided by David's UCC).

Responsibilities:

Understand and abide by David's Safe Church Policies at all times (to be provided by David's UCC). Prior to Sunday morning, prepare any needed materials. Advise Associate Pastor of any materials needed. On Sunday, arrive by 9:15AM. Check classroom areas to ensure the classroom is ready for Sunday school. At 9:30AM, be in the Narthex to greet students and help sign in kids and families. Answer questions and ensure all families have filled out the registration for each student attending Sunday school. Attend 9:50 service through the Children's Moment. After Children's Moment, help transition all students from the Sanctuary to the downstairs classrooms. During class session, lead the lesson as laid out in the lesson plan, helping students understand the concepts, and lead by example. After church is over, wait in the classroom to ensure students are correctly picked up and signed out. After class, pick up the classroom and put things away for the following week. Other duties as assigned.
