Job Description

The Operations Manager is a part-time, salaried yearly position supporting the operations of the Ames Youth Choir (AYC). Average schedule is 15-20 hours/week, $16-18/hour. Workload will vary depending on the season and needs of the organization. Tasks are completed with mostly flexible, work-from-home hours. Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, superb organizational and multi-tasking skills, and diplomacy in representing AYC. Candidates should be self-motivated and have the ability to work with minimal supervision. Candidates must have computer skills, including experience with Google Docs, Google Sheets, Canva, Squarespace, and similar applications. The Operations Manager must be able to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, to accommodate organization needs. Attendance at regular rehearsals, monthly board meetings and performances is required. This position reports to the Ames Youth Choir Board of Directors and works closely with the artistic staff, singers, and families. Familiarity with music and musical organizations is a plus, but not required. Preference will be given to those with music/arts experience.

Coordinate and attend placement auditionsAttire:
Order attire and manage inventoryRehearsals:
Attend all choir rehearsals (Mondays 4:30-8:30pm, August-May) Order music, assemble music binders and file music Attend to the needs of the children and generally assist the directorsRetreats:
Make arrangements and attend weekend rehearsal retreats Organize volunteers if neededBoard Meetings:
Attend all board meetings Present report of Operation Manager activitiesCommunications:
Manage phone and email correspondence as well as the BAND app communication with families Execute annual mass mailing Produce organizational documents (registration forms, rosters, attendance, volunteers, attire, schedules) Handle all scheduling and other communications with singers and parentsPrograms and Publicity:
Produce concert programs in cooperation with the directors Coordinate publicity and marketing for concerts, auditions, etc. Email PSA's to media and schoolsConcerts/Festivals:
Administer concert activities in affiliation with the directors Make arrangements for venue, logistics, tickets, etc. Coordinate volunteers Coordinate payment of musicians with bookkeeper Administer annual choral festivalTours:
Execute arrangements per the director's itinerary and tour plans: including communications and arrangements with churches, concert sites, home stays, hotels, food, bus company The Ames Youth Choir does not maintain a physical office location. All administrative duties for this position will be performed remotely with a flexible schedule. The position requires access to a personal computer and Ames Youth Choir will provide a cellular device for business use. The Ames Youth Choir will reimburse reasonable printing expenses and provide basic office supplies as needed. The Ames Youth Choir currently rehearses at the PLEX (Christ Community Church) 5501 George Washington Carver Ave, Ames.Pay:
