PENINSULA YOUTH ORCHESTRA
PROGRAMS
COORDINATOR
Peninsula Youth Orchestra (PYO), a non-profit organization celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026-2027, is looking for a Programs Coordinator to act as the liaison between its artistic and administrative staff. This is a part-time, hourly position with an anticipated (but flexible) start date of September 28, 2026. PYO serves 350 musicians ages 8-18 across seven ensembles in the mid-Peninsula region of the Bay Area. Approximately 70% of the job duties will be performed on-site in and around San Carlos; the remainder can be performed remotely. The ideal candidate will be passionate about youth arts, have the ability to effectively communicate with students, families, volunteers, and staff, and be detail-oriented working with spreadsheets and databases. Musical experience is beneficial but not essential.
SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES
Ensure that PYO rehearsal facilities are set up prior to each rehearsal and reset after each rehearsal Coordinate attendance tracking across all ensembles, including communication with students and families regarding unplanned absences or lateness Oversee the music library, including preparing and distributing music for each concert set Be present at dress rehearsals, concerts, and summer camps to provide logistical and production support Assist with other administrative tasks as needed, including communications and database management
HOURS AND SCHEDULE
This position will average 20 hours per week over the course of the year. Regularly scheduled hours during the concert season (September through May) include Sundays, 12:00pm-6:00pm and Mondays, 3:30pm-9:30pm. Other regular hours can be flexible. This position must also be available for concert weekends (Saturday and Sunday afternoons) three times each year.
COMPENSATION
This is an hourly, part-time, non-exempt position with a salary range of $24.00 to $27.00 per hour depending on experience. This position is eligible for paid sick and safe leave as per California law. Mileage between work sites will be reimbursed at the standard Federal rate. This position will also receive a small monthly stipend for use of their personal cell phone.
