We are seeking a part-time collaborative pianist to assist with high school choir classes. This position would also include responsibilities assisting with instruction and managing class logistics. Nature of the Role This position is considered a faith-forming role within American Heritage School. In addition to academic instruction, teaching assistants are expected to actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Qualifications Candidates should have prior experience accompanying for choirs on the piano. Successful candidates will demonstrate an enduring love of youth and a genuine passion for teaching and learning, as well as a commitment to actively participate in and contribute to a faith-based educational environment aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Candidates should also demonstrate strong communication and classroom management skills, high energy and a warm, consistent presence in the classroom, punctuality, and professionalism. Faith and Mission Responsibilities In addition to classroom responsibilities, teaching assistants at AHS are expected to integrate faith-based principles and moral reasoning into classroom instruction where appropriate, serve as an example of Christian character and discipleship to students, support and uphold the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions with students and colleagues, participate in school-wide devotionals, prayer, and other faith-centered activities, and respond thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making in a manner consistent with the school's mission. Professional Expectations Candidates should be professional in appearance and demeanor and willing and able to serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement. Personal conduct, public statements, and online presence, both on and off campus, are expected to reflect and support the school's religious mission and educational purpose. Teaching Responsibilities Primary responsibilities include accompanying for high school choirs, during rehearsals and performances; leading section rehearsals; managing classroom logistics, including roll-taking, grade book management, and seating charts; and completing other assignments as given by the choral director. Communication and Organization Candidates should demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to complete assignments on time.
