Duties:
Serve as the primary percussion instructor of the WVHS marching band Attend Summer Marching Band Camp (mid
  • August) Assist the director in adapting percussion parts for a variety of student skill levels and abilities Monitor and report the progress of the percussion section members regularly to the director Assist the director to monitor and maintain the percussion equipment and supplies Assist the director to maintain adequate teaching pacing of the percussion section throughout the season Assess competition judge's written and oral critiques in order to further develop the percussion sections skill and technique development Assist the director with student supervision and instructional duties at rehearsals and performances Work with the director to develop a schedule of attendance at 2/3 of the following events Attend all marching band rehearsals Attend home football games (5-6 home games per season) Attend marching competitions as scheduled by the director Attend any additional marching band rehearsals Required experience and expectations: Demonstrated ability and experience as a percussionist (collegiate or professional experience) Prior experience as a percussionist in a collegiate marching band setting, or Drum Corps is required Prior experience in a leadership position Demonstrated ability to teach and lead high school students Experience working in a collaborative setting Ability to adapt instruction to a variety of learners and learning situations Respectful / professional demeanor with students and marching band staff
