A Stage Manager directs stage activity and communication for a theater or opera performance. Works with directors and performers and supervises technical crews for a production. Schedules rehearsals; creates a record of stage entrances, cues and props during rehearsals; delivers instructions from backstage as needed during a performance.
To prepare loading dock and stage prior to load in, act as liaison between artist team and venue staff, ensure proper introduction to essential crew and facilities. Prepare and inform venue staff to execute schedules effectively.
Day-of-Show Execution:
Supervise equipment load-in, loading dock operations, stage setup, line checks, and final load-out. Support artist arrival, parking, and venue access. Enforce curfew and performance timings. Manage backstage access, credentials, and handle any venue-specific logistics.
Artist Liaison:
Provide exceptional, friendly, and informed service alongside the hospitality team to support the artist experience. Must be able to maintain composure around high profile artists/guests.
Crew Coordination:
Assist in supervising loaders, stagehands, production techs, and vendors. Communicate clearly with the union steward regarding stage movements and timings.
Vendor Coordination:
Support vendor arrival, oversee equipment build.
Communication:
Strong conflict-resolution and interpersonal skills to handle high-stress situations with artists and staff. Use clear radio and interpersonal skills to communicate clearly and efficiently with the venue crew and artist team.
Safety & Maintenance:
Maintain stage safety, secure house gear, and keep backstage areas clean and operational. Strong understanding of fire codes and emergency response plans. Responsible for safe and consistent operation of all equipment, and execution of events.
Physical Demands:
Capacity to stand for long periods and lift up to 50-75lbs. Ability to work in a fast paced and loud environment Required Skills & Qualifications 1+ years working in live event production, venue operations, stage management, or entertainment logistics. Strong understanding of Union Labor and Practices Experience (or willingness to learn) technical production and gearing are essential. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously as well as managing a team of 5+ individuals.
