Job Description

Overview We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Stage Manager to lead the coordination and execution of theatrical productions and dance performances. This vital role ensures that every aspect of the production runs smoothly from rehearsals to showtime, fostering a dynamic environment where creativity and organization come together. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a passion for theater and dance, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with enthusiasm and precision. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of live performance, supporting artists and audiences alike. Responsibilities Coordinate all elements of rehearsals and performances, including scheduling, timing, and logistics to ensure seamless execution. Serve as the primary communication link between directors, choreographers, performers, technical crews, and venue staff. Oversee stage setup, prop placement, costume changes, and technical cues to guarantee smooth transitions during performances. Manage backstage activities, ensuring safety protocols are followed and performers are prepared for their cues. Maintain detailed prompt books and cue sheets, recording all technical cues and stage movements for reference. Troubleshoot any on-the-spot issues that arise during rehearsals or performances with quick thinking and professionalism. Support teaching artists by assisting with choreography setups or rehearsal management when needed. Requirements Demonstrated experience in theater production or dance performance environments, with a strong understanding of stage management principles. Proficiency in communication skills to effectively coordinate among diverse team members. Knowledge of ballet, dancing techniques, and theatrical production processes. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure in fast-paced settings. Strong public speaking skills for addressing cast, crew, and audiences when necessary. Experience in teaching or writing about dance or theater is a plus but not required. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends during rehearsal periods and performances.
